A World Class Destination for Shark Angling from the Shore

First of all we have to catch the bait. Gully Sharks are used for bait to get the really big ones.

Fishing is done from the bank. We make use of an experienced fishing guide. We have been fishing for many years and found his personal skills and success to be among the best.

Success is his motto together on putting you on the Big Ones.

Along the Namibian coast it is especially the Copper Shark or Bronze Whaler Shark that is sought after. Also known as the “Bronzy”, its local common name refers to its coppery body colour, while its international name apparently refers to its alleged habit of feeding on whale carcasses, especially in Australian waters.

On average one in five copper sharks weighs more than 198 Lbs, while weights in excess of 330 Lbs, are not uncommon. A Bronzy of this weight has a tag length of about 2.3 meter. Really big copper sharks can weigh up to 396 Lbs. The copper shark is renowned for its fighting ability. It is one of the few sharks that jump right out of the water, and it can clear as much as 2m above the surface. It does this in an attempt to escape. The rough skin will snap your line if wrapped around it. When angling in rocky areas an angler might loose all sharks when hooked as they use the sharp rocks to break the line.

In cold water of around 18ºC, the sharks tend to be lively and very active. Copper sharks feed in shallow water, favouring temperatures ranging between 16ºC and 22ºC. The best season along the Namibian coast is from January to end May and from September to December. When the water temperatures drop, the sharks migrate northwards into Angolan waters where they remain until the water becomes too warm, causing them to migrate south again.

With the best Fishing Guide in Namibia on our team we have success throughout the year landing Sharks on every safari. With the change in weather we found the coast of Namibia to keep on producing Sharks no matter what. This is simply a must after any safari and we only need a minimum of three (3) days to ensure your success.
